Abortion Recovery

Forgiven and Set Free and Healing a Father’s Heart Support Group Bible Studies for Men and Women

Our Abortion Recovery Bible Study and support group programs provide clients who have experienced abortion in their life counsel and care within a confidential, small group setting. These studies are also available on an individual basis. This interaction with others who have had similar experiences and in-depth study of the Scriptures allow women and men with wounded spirits to experience the hope, peace, forgiveness and love of their Heavenly Father. Men and women meet separately in their own group study.

Appropriate scriptures help men and women deal with issues such as:

  • Relief and Denial: Relief and denial are the most common emotional reactions following an abortion. Relief is feeling free from a burden, a pain or an anxiety but it does not last forever. The realization of what abortion really is and what it has done to their unborn child can lead a women or men into the stage of denial.
  • Anger: For a women and men who regret their decision to abort their unborn child, anger is a major part of the post-abortion experience. They may be angry with themselves, with God, with those they loved and trusted the most during their time of decision.
  • Forgiveness: Forgiveness belongs to our God. It is through Him that we have forgiveness. Because we have been forgiven, we can choose to share this forgiveness of Jesus with others.
  • Depression: Depression is another emotion commonly experienced following an abortion. When depression strikes, a person’s attention is turned inward and focused on themselves and their loss.
  • Letting God: Many times after an abortion, women and men have great difficulty accepting God’s forgiveness. They are forgiven yet continue to walk in condemnation. If we believe and obey God’s word about this, we can be set free from this emotional bondage and begin to walk in the light of God’s forgiveness and love.
  • Acceptance: In the stage of acceptance women and men, acknowledge that abortion ended their unborn child’s life. They no longer dwell on painful memories nor try to hide them.

Evening of Prayer Service for Healing After Abortion

Another avenue for healing is an evening of prayer service offered to area churches. This is a non-denominational prayer service for anyone affected by abortion, not just the post-abortion man or woman. This evening of prayer deals with similar issues as the group study but in the context of a prayer service, which lasts about an hour. The atmosphere of anonymity is an advantage for some people afraid to take the first step towards healing. Included in our program handout is information about our support groups. At the conclusion of the service, there is opportunity for individual prayer and counseling.
